Wheeling, WV - It’s now less than a month before Monday Night Football takes over downtown Wheeling when
the Wheeling Miners welcome the Colorado Spartans to Wesbanco Arena, and the evening will
be star-studded on and off the field.
Not only will four former Pittsburgh Steelers – Merril Hoge, Bubby Brister, Louis Lipps, and Brian
Blankenship – be on hand, but the National Arena League’s GameDay broadcast team will be in
Wheeling for its first big show of the season, as well.
Hoge, Brister, Lipps, and Blankenship were gridiron gods together in Pittsburgh during the past
1980s and early 1990s, and they’ll be available to meet, tell their stories, and to sign autographs
beginning at 5 p.m. Tickets for this event remain available, and the purchase includes admission
to the season opener against the Spartans.
Grab your tickets before they're gone: https://www.gowvminers.com/steelers-form
Season ticket holders will receive a 25 percent “Thank You” discount to the autograph session
so the Miners organization can show their appreciation for their support. Those season ticket
holders planning to attend only need to text to 919-920-0972 for verification and discount code
before the event.
The NAL GameDay broadcast will begin at 4 p.m.in the main lobby of Wesbanco Arena, and the
broadcast will feature interviews with league officials, arena football experts, and members of
the Miners organization to offer fans across the country an insider’s perspective to the Miners
Monday Night home opener.
Opening Night also will be Education/Youth Night, sponsored by WV811, and tickets for all
school-aged children from Pre-K through high school are only $7 each for any section with a
paid adult ticket in the same section. Each child also will receive a free gift at the merchandise
table. (Must purchase tickets in person at the WesBanco Arena Box Office)
The Miners’ first season in the Friendly City was an impressive success with Wheeling
registering an undefeated 10-0 record on the way to winning the championship in the American
Arena League-2. Head Coach and General Manager Josh Resignalo announced in the middle
of last season a contract extension with Wesbanco Arena to play the team’s schedules in
downtown Wheeling through the 2026 season.
Resignalo, who is under contract with the team through the 2027 season, is entering his 19th
season in arena football and his fifth in the NAL.
